In control, out of control.

Penalty shoot
As parents and teachers we look forward to our children to become happy, fulfilled individuals who will grow through life's challenges and who feel good about themselves and their lives. In the process we tend to unintentionally 'take control' of their lives very often in a very oppressed manner. Daily, parent and teachers expressed that their children are 'out of control' and do not know what to do next. In actual sense, the moment adults express 'out of control' they have already long ' lost it'. Being in control is actually an illusion or appearance whereby adults pushed down their feelings onto the children. And these feelings were the manifestation of their own childhood experiences which may be very much been

oppressed. If such confrontation persist, the adults and children will be drained to the extend that there will be not much left between them.Children learn from what we model and we model what we learned as children. If we hope to give  children the gift of a happy, responsible, fully alive adulthood, we must first live that way ourselves. When we talk of 'control', we mean control feelings and emotions which is impossible for any adults to do, onto any children. Feelings and emotions are who the children actually are.It cannot be get through with, get over, get past or get away from.It is part of children.

Famous Char Koay Teow

Char Koay Teow at Jalan Empat.
Hoong Yang Centre is situated at Jalan Empat, which is also famous for its Char Koay Teow. Many outstation visitors, looking for the best char koay teow in Air Itam, have to drive in circles, amid the traffic jams. This  hawker store is in a restaurant, on the left side, nearest to the Bukit Bendera roundabout, if you are coming from town. Friends from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur who had tasted it liked very much. It is fried using charcoal, flame fanned to the highest temperature, that will gives an unforgettable aroma after eaten. It will be unforgivable for visitors to take this taste as a yardstick for comparison when tasting other char koay teow elsewhere.
Good and tasty that leaves an unforgettable aroma after eaten.

Soon Chee Hao's birthday celebration

Happy birthday Soon Chee Hao
Giving love to get love.

Its going to be four months since the beginning of 2012 which means many new new students have been with us for almost four months already. During this period we have successfully overcome many challenges pertaining to negative habits, aggressiveness and non cooperativeness of the children, not by strict discipline and punishment but by plenty of encouragements and love. Today we see many students slowly changing their attitude towards their peers to be more tolerant, understanding and loving. Some even show more loving and affection to their parents.                                    Knowing that love begets love, but many new parents still insist that we play 'hard' instead of 'soft' in order for the children to get good academic results. It is important for parents to cooperate with the centre by looking at problems as our mutual challenges instead of looking for more problems and even add on to it. Take for example, if a child forgets to take his water tumbler to school, the parents highlight the problem and blame it on the teachers and the centre for forgetting to remind the child. Will this blame help the child in any way? This child will never be independent if everything is organized for him. We have come across our children who did not bring their water tumbler to school, but could borrow a glass from the canteen and take water from the school's water dispenser. Now, we have our children taking just the  tumbler without water to school so that their bags will be lighter and they can take the water from the school's water dispenser later. We have a child who could borrow some money from our teacher for his canteen food, instead of sitting out hungry for forgetting to bring his pocket money. There is no right or wrong; but which do we prefer.
