Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

It's the beginning of the Back To School season after a long school holidays. Parents are beginning to get ready for their children's education again with a lot of  spending on books, bags, clothes and writing accessories. Added to the list is to find a good tuition centre for their children or sending them to good daycare centre, while the parents have a peaceful mind at work. Again at our centre we have parents coming in to share with us the habits of their children , their food intake and the number of hours of of their sleep. It's a joyous year for us to see our children grow healthily and progressing well in their studies. Though all of our children had done well academically the past year, we do not claim credit in drilling them to study, instead we allow space and proper and happy environment for them to grow and learn at their own pace. For new students who just join us recently, they may have brought along their old and negative habits, we will have to cover up their habits with positive mental attitude and thinking a little at a time. There are children who dislike mental arithmetic class, we allow them to choose other subjects like drawings and paintings to enable them enjoy learning and self discovery of their potential.

Parents entrust their children to our care centre for various reasons One of .the main reason is to help their children perform better academically  in their schools. Expectations are high and results of their children becomes the yardstick for our teachers. Today, modern daycare centres are no longer just a babysitting institution. Teachers are required not only to guide in their school homework but also to help out in winning competitions in school and perform better in exams. Non Chinese children in Chinese schools face bigger challenges in language barrier and heavy workload. These challenges are passed onto our teachers, who has no less than 8 years of experiences. Till today our dedicated and determined teachers have overcome all the challenges with flying colours.

A success story

Children are independent and creative when left alone
Learning English from Teacher Alice
It is fantastic, just less than eight months since the first day we started our daycare centre, we have successfully run our centre with all students residing happily in it without much of a problem. The students get along well among themselves and with their teachers. As they begin to settle down treating the centre as their home, we have to be cautious and alert that new wave of challenges may arise. Children are always very imaginative and at times very ambitious. They may start to gang up as the first group from the second group. They may start to play doctors, teachers, discipline masters or policemen on younger children. While we encourage older children to share their love and knowledge with younger children, we are extremely careful that body and mental harm are not incurred onto the younger ones. However we have discovered that some of the senior students are extremely talented to be teachers and they have expressed their ambition to be teachers one day. We have also discovered that our hyper active children are talented in singing and with good and loud voice too while the quiet one are good in speaking English and show high intelligence and a few are good at playing Chess. Wow, we really have a team, what more we have good and dedicated teachers to go along with.

Millions of wonders in the world of children.

Children occupying themselves during activity time.
At times when we are faced with shortage of teachers because of illness of one or two teachers, we are under tremendous pressure to ensure the smooth running of the centre. We have to start by doing what is necessary and move on to what is possible and suddenly we realize we have achieve the impossible. The children sensed that there is a shortage of teacher and they turned to be exceptionally disciplined and surprisingly a few of them became educators themselves, guiding the younger ones in their homework and even teaching them! They even draft the timetable for the students to play computers at interval of 15 minutes each and doing their reading and writing or playing board games. Our great discovery is to realize that the children change or develop their character and attitude in the absence of their teacher. It is a blessings in disguise. Even the younger ones accepted the older children as their guide for the day and obeyed accordingly. Surprise upon surprise, the children seem smarter and intelligent than usual. The whole situation turn out best when we make the best of the whole situation. There are 86400 seconds a day; and the little words  of 'thank you', 'good boy', 'well done' which takes a few seconds, may go a long way for the healthy growth of the children. There are no seven wonders for children, but in millions. A visiting caterpillar can create great excitement and sensation among the children, which are shown in their scream of happiness and excited body movements. Nice things must be said and be heard by the children always. With our face towards sunshine, the shadows will fall behind us.
